More about Coach clancy

Christine Clancy is a former college basketball coach and athletics administrator who is passionate about advancing women’s sports and creating more opportunities for girls and women to thrive in athletics. After 18 years on the sidelines as a coach and educator—including more than a decade as Head Coach of the Washington and Lee University Women’s Basketball team—Christine has seen firsthand the transformative power of sports to build confidence, community, and leadership.

Her career highlights include leading Washington and Lee to multiple ODAC championships, NCAA tournament wins, and national rankings, while earning back-to-back ODAC Coach of the Year honors in 2022 and 2023. Yet, Christine is most proud of the relationships she built with peers and colleagues, and of the ways young women were empowered through their participation in her program.

Most recently, Christine has expanded her work into recreation and youth sports programming, supporting community-based initiatives that emphasize fun, fundamentals, and lifelong participation. This experience has deepened her passion for getting—and keeping—more kids, especially girls, engaged in sports and active lifestyles.

Now stepping into the professional coaching and consulting space, Christine is eager to share her experiences while continuing to learn and grow. She is especially committed to:

  • Encouraging girls to start—and stay—in sports by making athletics fun, accessible, and supportive.

  • Supporting women coaches so they have the tools, confidence, and networks to thrive and stay in the profession.

  • Helping organizations foster inclusive, high-performing teams built on respect, communication, and shared leadership.

Christine holds a Master’s of Science in Exercise and Sport Studies from Smith College and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Brandeis University, along with certificates from the NCAA Women’s Coaches Academy and Women’s Coaches Academy 2.0. She is excited to bring her experience, humility, and passion for women’s sports into this new chapter of leadership and consulting.
